USC Upstate/Florida Gulf Coast Atlantic Sun Battle

Since we are still so early on with conference games, and they are all mid majors, these games are not on TV, but most are on ESPN3.

9 conferences have now started tournament action, but the USC Upstate/Florida Gulf Coast game tonight from Atlantic Sun was the most important to our pool.

The USC Upstate/FGCU game went back and forth the entire night, but in the end it came down to FGCU needing to make 3 Free Throws to force overtime, and after making 2 out of 3, FGCU missed the last one and USC Upstate won the game.

56% of the pool picks were for FGCU, so most of the Atlantic Sun picks have now been lost.  On Sunday, USC Upstate and North Florida will play for the championship!

Recapping the Patriot League, Colgate easily beat Navy, Bucknell (1 seed) needed overtime to beat Holy Cross, Lafayette dismantled Boston University, and Lehigh was upset by American University.

8 picks were lost in our pool tonight with Lehigh losing to American University.

Clicking the link below will give you the full spreadsheet so you can see the movement in the standings from today.  On only day 3 we have already had so much movement with the standings, more than we have seen in the past.

Current Standings

Tomorrow brings many more conference games that have meaningful impacts to our pool, I highlighted a few of them below.

New conferences starting tomorrow include Colonial, Southern, and West Coast.  The West Coast conference is played at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, so one of my favorite conferences to watch!

The Big South is back in action tomorrow, all teams are playing which puts everyone at risk, and we will have losses since everyone has different Big South champions.

The Missouri Valley Conference continues tomorrow, all teams are playing which again puts everyone at risk, with plenty of losses to be had.

Keeping with the theme, the entire Ohio Valley Conference is in play.  72% of us are on Murray State, if they win tomorrow they will play in the Championship game Saturday night and we'll have our first champion crowned!

It is getting to the point now where hundreds of teams are going to be playing conference games each day, so I'll start to focus on talking more about the championship games and impacts to our standings.

And with games ending later at night with the West Coast teams starting conference play, I will start to update standings 3-4 times/day and attempt a morning and evening blog update.

10 Days Left Until Selection Sunday!
